Mrs. Betty Washington, 77 years old of Robertville, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. She received her educational training in the Jasper County public school system. She married Henry Washington Sr and they moved to Massachusetts. After moving back to her hometown in 1980, she became employed by the Jasper County School District as a Food Operator for over 30 years. She was also a caregiver in the community for several years. After retiring, she spent her time talking on the phone with her siblings and friends, sitting on the porch doing word searches, and playing Pokeno. Betty was a member of the Annell Chapter #297 Order of the Eastern Star and a missionary. She was also a member of the Junior Jubilee Choir, the Gourmet Chefs Committee, and the Women’s Ministry at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her love of sweets and her generous portions when serving food in cafeteria.
Those left to carry on her legacy and memories are- Children: Stephen Washington of Columbia, SC and Henry Washington Jr. of Springfield, MA; Grandchildren: Breanna Washington of Greensboro, NC and Isaiah Lee Washington of Springfield, MA; Siblings: Rose Ann Hutchinson of Robertville, SC, Debbie (Dean Sr.) Whitfield of Temple Hills, Maryland, and Jack (Ruth Ann) Lee of Robertville, SC; Sister-In-Law: Eldora Lee of Tyebranch, SC; Aunt: Isabel Patterson. Nieces and Nephews: Abrahiem (Alicia) Hutchinson, Cynthia Hasty, Devan (Malawi) Tucker, Shalina Lee, Dean Whitfield Jr., Jacqueline Lee, De’Ashia Lee (Also a Goddaughter), Jerel Lee, Thelma Housey, and Linda Spencer; Grandnieces and Grandnephews: Quentin Hutchinson, Kayla Hasty, Brandi Hutchinson, Jahvon Hutchinson, Aryanna Frazier, Donnell Frazier, Aiden Tucker, Caitlyn Frazier, Brandon Tucker, and Bria Frazier; a host of other loving relatives, and friends. She will be greatly missed by her lifelong friends, Mrs. Mary Williams, Ms. Brenetta Solomon, and Ms. Elizabeth “Squeak” Bryant.
A Walk-Thru will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Bostick Funeral Home Chapel in Ridgeland, South Carolina from 5-7 PM
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021; 11:00 AM at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Pineland, South Carolina
Burial will take place at the church cemetery
