Mr. Hezekiah Mitchell, 93 years old of Rivers Hill Community in Pineland, South Carolina passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at home with his loving wife.
He attended the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina and graduated from Alfred Ely Beach High School of Savannah, Georgia.
He was baptized at an early age at the Mount Nebo Baptist Church in Jonesville, South Carolina. Later, he became a member of Padgett Branch Baptist Church in Grays, South Carolina.
He was enlisted in the U. S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. In his lifetime he was adored and respected by many.
Mr. Mitchell worked for Southland Oil Company for over 30 years.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his devoted wife of over thirty years, Mrs. Ovester Rivers Mitchell, his children; Carl L. (Cassandra) Mitchell, Reginald R. (Andrea) Mitchell, Carol D (McArthur) Holmes, Barbara Y. (Melvin) Prescott and Jestine D. Mitchell. A host of grandchildren, great grands and one great-great grand, four step-grandchildren, one step great granddaughter, one stepdaughter in- law: Felicia Rivers. Two sisters in- law; Dr. Joyce Travis and Georgia Orr, three brothers in- law; Dave Rivers, Jr., Kenneth Rivers, and Larry (Jackie) Rivers. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Bostick Funeral Home Chapel in Ridgeland, South Carolina at 10:00 AM.
Burial will take place at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Always remember to wear a mask, you protect others as well as yourself, mask works best when everyone wears one. A mask is not a substitute for social distancing, masks should be worn in addition to staying 6 feet apart, especially when indoors around people who do not live in your household.
