Ms. Leslie Yvette Baker

Ms. Leslie Y. Baker, 66 years old of Tallahassee, FL., passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in Florida.

Ms. Baker was born and raised in New York City. She attended New York City Public School and was a graduate of Mount Ida Junior College back in 1977, this was before matriculating to Howard University School of Human Ecology.

After receiving her degree Ms. Baker moved to Washington, D.C. and began her career in pharmaceutical sales and had worked for a handful of major companies, including Roche, Johnson & Johnson, and Novartis. She was particularly proud of the relationships she formed with black doctors, nurses, and pharmacists in around the Florida Panhandle.

Ms. Baker will be remembered fondly as a leader and straight talker with a heart for her community and sage advice for anyone who would listen.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter; Maya, her beloved aunts; Mildred Laurel, Edna Baker and Irma Baker, her uncle; Samuel Baker. A close and devoted friend; Loretta King, a host of cousins and a wide community of friends, neighbors, and admirers.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Grahamville Cemetery in Ridgeland, South Carolina at 11:00 AM.

Always remember to wear a mask, you protect others as well as yourself, mask works best when everyone wears one. A mask is not a substitute for social distancing, masks should be worn in addition to staying 6 feet apart, especially when indoors around people who do not live in your household.
